Hybrid vehicles use both a gas engine and an electric motor, which can be used separately or together depending on the speed. This allows hybrids to achieve better fuel efficiency than gas-only vehicles. Hybrid batteries are recharged by regenerative braking, which converts energy from braking into electricity.
